Brine regeneration

Due to its high salt content, brine is usually difficult to treat by conventional methods, especially if the volume produced is too low to justify the installation of an on-site treatment plant.

It has been confirmed through extensive testing that CEVAP evaporators can extract clean water from brines, without suffering from corrosion of the evaporation surfaces or permanent performance decrease due to scaling or fouling. This has been proven true for both sea water and brines used in the food industry, where brines with up to 30% salt content could be successfully processed.

Chemicals regeneration/treatment

Waste water produced as by-product of chemical processes is expensive to treat, especially when the volumes produced are not large enough to justify the installation of a state-of-the-art, traditional treatment installation.

A CEVAP based treatment unit can in this case separate efficiently clean water and light solvents from heavier components present in the water, resulting in overall cheaper disposal costs or, in some cases, isolation and recycle of costly solvents.

Sea/ground water desalination

For remote or isolated locations, the supply of drinking water may be scarce or extremely expensive.

For some applications, it may be convenient to produce drinking water by extracting groundwater and treating it to remove its mineral content. A CEVAP installation can be optimized to maximize its distillate production and it can be completed with a mineralization step + UV disinfection module in order to produce drinking water.

The concentrate produced as by-product by the evaporator can be re-injected in the ground or discharged into the sea.
